Glen View History:

The property was donated by Thomas Clements and Stillman Magee in 1890.  Glen View Cemetery Association was incorporated in 1895.  Mr. Clements named Glen View after the home his parents owned in Ireland.  In 1949, Margaret Clements donated new gates and some of the brick used to build the pillars were from the old school house.  Ed Bamert donated the fence and it was put up at the same time to make the cemetery more secure.  The cemetery was again incorporated in 1989 and the name was changed to Glen View Cemetery, Inc.

We still have some of the old log books recording the deaths of those buried in the cemetery dating back to the late 1800's. One of the log books listed where the person originated from, usually a foreign country, and also the reason for death including consumption, tuberculosis, influenza, and accidental gun shot wounds.

Clements History:

The town of Clements was founded in 1882.  It derives it's name from Thomas Clements who purchased a large area of land from David L. Terry in 1871.  Thomas moved on to this land in 1872.

The first school house was built on Prince Athearn's ranch in 1869.  The second house was built in 1877.  Thomas Clements donated bricks from his brick yard to build the school house and Stillman Magee deeded the land. Other community minded men purchased the supplies to erect the building and it was named Athearn School. While the school was being constructed they held class in the Odd Fellows building.
